Brief Report

CII strongly believes that it is important to mainstream CSR Agenda for Sustained Inclusiveness in the North East region. Although the new paradigm of CSR CSO Bridge is opening up new vistas and avenues to forge partnership for development and empowerment across the country, it is still in its nascent stage in the region. To take this forward CII organized a “CSR-CSO Bridge : Forging Partnerships in the North East” on 7th December 2012 at Guwahati.

This programme was organized in two parts : a Conference and Exhibition

The key focus of the conference was strengthening the partnership between corporates and voluntary organizations by coming up with innovative ideas and solutions to existing hindrances so as to bridge the gap between the two sectors. The Exhibition segment of the event witnessed the participation of several voluntary organisations showcasing a range of projects identified by NGOs for deployment at the grassroots level with the key objective of connecting corporates and others with good credible NGOs .

Mr Hemanga K Sharma, Commission & Secretary, Social Welfare, Govt of Assam was the Chief Guest for the event and described the approach to CSR as “The People’s Plan”. He said CSR activities should be prepared with civil society in mind after understanding the concerns of the people at the grassroots level.

Others distinguished guests included Mr. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, Commissioner, Deptt. Of Industries Govt. of Assam, Mr. B P Das, Executive Director, Guwahati Refinery, IOCL, Dr. Jayanta Madhab Sr. Economist besides several other personalities from corporate houses, voluntary organizations and PSUs
